Building Phase 1

My first idea was to put a car port on the slab and then place the containers on each side of the carport.  After pricing the open carport versus a closed building.  We decided a closed building would be a better choice.

We priced a completely enclosed building and ordered it.  It took about two weeks to come in and it was completely finished in only 6 hours.  The photos show the contruction by the 3 man crew.

The completed shop is really nice.  Even in 100(F) day temp it is still nice inside with a fan and the doors open.  A few weeks later I painted the floor with an epoxy concrete coating.

Concrete Progress

Next on the agenda is some conrete work.  A 20x20 concrete slab was poured near the shipping containers to provide a place for a future carport / garage.  I have found a really good concrete man and his team did an awesome job on all of our concrete work.

Storage Containers

Last year 2012  I began working on the new shop in Hammond. First thing is to move my stuff out of storage and onto my own property. I purchased two shipping containers commonly called CONEX boxes. They were delivered together on an amazing flatbed trailer.

The driver placed the containers exactly where I wanted them.  The trailer had hydraulic tilt and sliding axles.  The truck actually got stuck in my ditch and pushed it self out with the sliding trailer axles.

Both containers were placed exactly where I wanted them side by side.  Now I am up to 320 square feet of storage.

Because we live in country and have no zoning, I am allowed to place the containers on our property.
